Kenya Barris and Curtis Jackson (aka 50 Cent) are teaming up to bring a new series to Netflix.

According to Deadline, the two producers are developing a series based on Jackson and Robert Greene’s book, The 50th Law. Barris and his fellow blackAF co-executive producer Hale Rothstein are writing the script for the pilot along with executive producing, with Barris doing so via his Khalabo Ink production company.

Green will also executive produce, with Jackson executive producing through his production company G-Unit. Through Jackson’s deal with Starz, Lionsgate TV will produce the series. Barris’ deal with Netflix brings the pilot to the streamer.

Like the book, the series will be semi-autobiographical, focusing on Jackson’s youth as “a young urban hustler” who found success as a musician. The story juxtaposes Jackson’s life lessons with nuggets of wisdom from some of history’s most famous philosophers and leaders, such as Sun Tzu, Malcolm X, James Baldwin, Abraham Lincoln, and others.
