Jodie Turner-Smith is in final talks to star opposite Amandla Stenberg in the upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars series, The Acolyte. Deadline exclusively reported the news.
Stenberg is the lead and the only confirmed cast member of the show so far, and Turner-Smith is the only one who has been reported to join her as of yet. As with Stenberg’s character, details regarding Turner-Smith’s character have been kept under wraps.
The Acolyte, which will begin production in late fall, “is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.”
As Deadline notes, “In the Star Wars universe, an acolyte can refer to individuals with force abilities who learn from a more experienced Sith Lord.”
Turner-Smith is probably known for her role opposite Daniel Kaluuya in Queen & Slim. She was recently seen in the UK TV series Anne Boleyn and the A24 film After Yang. She’ll be seen soon in Netflix’s White Noise with Don Cheadle and Adam driver.
Leslye Headland will serve as head writer, producer, and showrunner for The Acolyte.
