The Netflix animated adventure series Kipo and The Age Of Wonderbeasts has been renewed for a second season.

The series focuses on the central character Kipo (Karen Fukuhara). After spending most of her life underground, Kipo is separated from her family when a mutant attack sends her to the surface, which is filled with peculiar and deadly creatures. The series, produced by DreamWorks Animation Television, features a bevy of Black actresses and actors as the voices of the show’s primary characters.

This Is Us star and Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown portrays the role of Lio Oak, Kip’s scientist father. Actor and comedian Deon Cole voices the character of Dave, a mutant insect. Coy Stewart and Sydney Mikayla voice the respective characters of Benson and Wolf, two kids on surface survivors alongside Kip.

News of the show’s renewal was first reported by Gizmodo. Here’s the plot description for season 2: All is not well on the surface. With the burrow people under Scarlemagne’s mind control and her father his prisoner, Kipo must quickly learn to master her newly-discovered mute abilities in order to save them. As she and her friends split up on a dangerous rescue mission, Kipo’s journey of self discovery unearths mysteries of the past that change everything she thought she knew.
