Letitia Wright’s star wattage keeps growing. Since her breakout turn in the film Black Panther and her Emmy-nominated turn in Black Mirror, the Guyanese-born British actress is eager to parlay her riches into more Black women-centered narratives.

In an interview for The Hollywood Reporter, Wright named Keke Palmer as an early inspiration, citing her acclaimed performance in Akeelah and the Bee. “She looked like me, she was positive, she just wanted to contribute,” Wright said. “It did a lot for me. It resonated. It’s one of the reasons why I’m here.” In that same vein, Wright also expressed interest in producing to create more roles to which Black girls could relate. “There are a few good ideas that I’ve had,” she said.

Wright also disclosed details regarding Guava Island, a top-secret collaboration between Rihanna and Donald Glover in which she is reportedly cast. “I can’t tell you anything, I don’t even know what is Guava Island,” she said. “I have no clue. I don’t know anything. I don’t even know where they got my name from!”
