Disney Channel states that the show will change course with Raven (Raven-Symoné) and her son Booker (Isaac Ryan Brown) are moving to San Francisco to Chicago to help Raven’s father Victor (returning That’s So Raven actor Rondell Sheridan) after he’s suffered a “mild heart attack.”

According to the season description, Raven will now have to help her father and raise her young cousin while getting into the swing of life in her old hometown. As Raven is settling in and finding her way, Booker is also finding his way at Raven’s old high school and feels he must keep his visions a secret from his new friends.

With the change in story direction means that a slew of new series regulars are coming. Sheridan is one of the new series regulars, but he’s the only familiar face from the That’s So Raven universe returning this season apart from Raven-Symoné and Brown. Other actors joining as regulars are mixed-ish‘s Mykal-Michelle Harris as Raven’s cousin Alice, Emmy Liu-Wang, known for her performance in the Broadway production of Annie, as Alice’s babysitter Ivy. Gamers Guide to Pretty Much Everything‘s Felix Avitia will play Booker’s new classmate and neighbor Neil.

With the shakeup, this means that the majority of the actors from the prior seasons aren’t coming back. This includes Anneliese van der Pol, Navia Robinson, Jayson Maybaum, and Sky Katz. This means that Booker’s sister Nia (Robinson) won’t join her mom and brother in Chicago. We’ll have to see how this plot point is addressed once the fifth season airs–the season will start production this fall.

The new season will see Scott Thomas and Jed Elinof, who developed the series, join Raven-Symoné as executive producers, along with Anthony C. Hill.

Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Entertainment, said, “Ever since the debut of ‘That’s So Raven,’ Raven-Symoné has been an incredibly important part of the Disney Channel family. With ‘Raven’s Home,’ her talent and special brand of humor have continued to resonate with kids and families, and we’re excited to see what lies ahead for Raven in season five. This beloved series is in good hands with the experienced team of Raven, Scott Thomas, Jed Elinoff and Anthony C. Hill leading an amazing cast and crew.”
