The short film tender, starring Farelle Walker and Trishauna Clarke, has been released online and Shadow And Act has the exclusive premiere!

Written and directed by Felicia Pride, the film is her directorial debut and the first project out of her Gen-X focused production company, Felix & Annie, which is named after her parents. tender first premiered at the 2020 Outfest Fusion.

Here’s the official description: After an unexpected one night stand, two women at very different stages of their lives, share an even more intimate morning after.

A crowdfunding campaign was started for the short film last August and was championed by the likes of Ava DuVernay and more.

Pride said in a statement, tender is a simple story, close to my heart, about the bonds between Black women. I’m fascinated and fortified by the bonds I share with the Black women in my life and I wanted to try to capture that power. I also wanted to explore emotional intimacy, sexuality, and loss, from a Black woman lens, which we don’t see nearly enough.”

These days, between social media and dating apps, genuine connection can become lost,” she continued. How does that impact our ability to connect in the first place? I also like playing with age and class and am compelled to write Gen X female characters (like me and my friends) who are actively reflecting on their life. And in this film’s case, a reflection through the eyes of your seemingly younger self. Lastly, because I’m a champion of joy and because Black joy is resistance, this is also a film about joy and how we can find both joy and connection in unlikely places if we allow ourselves too.”
