He hasn’t been behind the camera since 2009’s Law Abiding Citizen; since then he’s been attached to a Marvin Gaye biopic, and the film adaptation of the video game titled Kane & Lynch, which was/is to star Jamie Foxx and Bruce Willis; though nothing has happened on either front.

Earlier this morning, Deadline announced that director F. Gary Gray is now attached to helm The Last Days Of American Crime, with Sam Worthington to star.

The project is based on a graphic novel of the same name, which is set in the not-too-distant future, and centers on a major terrorism attack on American soil, and the government’s response to it – “developing technology that eliminates the impulse to commit crimes of any kind.

Sam Worthington will play a career criminal and leader of a heist team that plans to pull off a final job before the technology is put to use, and are rushed into completing it when news of their heist plan is leaked.

Production begins in September.
