Samuel L. Jackson, Michael K. Williams and Marianne Jean-Baptiste are all co-starring in MGM's upcoming reboot of Robocop, helmed by Brazilian director Jose Padilha (probably best know for Elite Squad, and its sequel).

Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) stars as the title character, and Gary Oldman will play the mad scientist who created him.

Jackson will play a character named Pat Novaka charismatic TV mogul and a powerful force in the Robocop world; Williams plays Robocop's partner; and Jean-Baptiste will play Police Chief Karen Dean.

Strike Entertainment is producing the movie, which is currently shooting in Toronto, aiming for a summer 2013 release.

Its official synopsis reads:

In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front.

Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilises their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex's life.

He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

Director José Padilha (Elite Squad) reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) as the title character, Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises) as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers) as media mogul Pat Novak.

ComingSoon.net snapped 2 photos of Kinnaman on set, in the redesigned, less boxy Robocop suit, as you can see in the pics above and below (how's the all-new Robocop working for you, if at all?):
