Rejoice and Shout, Don McGlynn’s award-winning feature length documentary chronicling the history of Gospel Music, opens June 3rd at New York’s Film Forum to kick off Black Music Month.

The film explores the roots of Gospel, its influence on popular music and the paths that have developed it into the powerhouse musical platform it is today. It features interviews and archival footage with musicians including Mavis Staples, Smokey Robinson, Andrae Crouch, Willa Ward, and others.

The film screened widely during the 2010 film festival season and receives distribution from Magnolia Pictures.
