I gave this series (Touch) a shot last season, its debut, but I just wasn't engaged enough to want to stick with it. But enough of you watched because Fox renewed it for a second season; however, 2 of its co-stars won't be returning.

We already know about Danny Glover's early exit; his stint on the new Fox drama was a temporary one, as series creator Tim Kring said earlier this year (after Danny's last appearance) that the actor had signed on to only appear in the show's first six episodes.

But in addition ot Danny, I learned over the weekend that Gugu Mbatha-Raw will not be returning for season 2 (which debuts on October 26).

Why? Apparently her role was no longer as important as it was early in season 1, playing social worker Clea Hopkins, and also the actress is pursuing other roles, like (one project we've reported on) British actor/writer/director/producer Amma Asante's period drama about the trials and tribulations of a mixed-race girl titled Belle, which begins production today at Pinewood Studios in the UK. 

Mbatha-Raw is playing the lead role, Belle, with Miranda Richardson, Tom Wilkinson, Sarah Gadon, Sam Claflin, Matthew Goode, Tom Felton, Sam Reid, James Norton and Penelope Wilton rounding out the cast.

She also co-stars in te thriller Odd Thomas, which stars Anton Yelchin, due out in the first half of 2013.

Glover and Mbatha-Raw co-starred in Touch alongside Kiefer Sutherland and David Mazouz.

The series centers on a father (Martin, played by Sutherland) who discovers that his genius son (Jake, played by Mazouz) is communicating with him through a complex series of numbers and may even be able to predict events before they happen.

Mr Glover played a character named Arthur DeWitt, a college professor who's an expert on "gifted" children, who works with father to reach his son.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw played the female lead – Clea Hopkins – a social worker who is evaluating Martin's living situation to determine whether or not his son Jake should remain in the home.
