Charitable organization the TKAFoundation, founded by Sam Kessie, (who was just featured on Shadow and Act’s 2011/2012 Black Filmmakers To Watch list), is teaming up with AKOSIA to support the Street Academy’s summer arts program in Accra, Ghana.

The program runs for five weeks, and its aim is to expose Ghanaian youth to the art of visual storytelling with hands on experience. At the end of the program, there will a screening of their two fifteen minute films.

On May 13, TKA (Tomorrow’s Kaleidoscope of Artists) will be holding a fundraiser in New York City, featuring a cocktail reception, fashion auction, and guest musicians M3NSA, and Iyadede (find more event details HERE). They also have an online campaign to raise funds with IndieGoGo, which you can check out HERE. The program not only provides filmmaking instruction, but they also provide the following:

• 2 meals a day
• Two uniform shirts
• Sneakers
• School supplies

The program will enroll 40-45 children, so it’s vital to raise enough funds to support the entire crew. Check out the video below to see what the kids experienced in past years:
