Idris Elba is in negotiations to voice (and possibly do motion capturing) for the role of Shere Khan, the arrogant tiger who regards himself the rightful lord of the jungle, in Disney’s live-action remake of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book.
This project is not to be confused with the other adaptation of The Jungle Book which is in development at Warner Bros.
Details on Disney’s take is being kept under wraps for now, but it will reportedly feature a blend of live action and computer animated characters.

Jon Favreau is directing from a script penned by Justin Marks.
Elba was last seen in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, and will next appear in the Will Packer-produced thriller No Good Deed, opposite Taraji P. Henson.
