No better way to start the work week than with a Tyler Perry post 🙂
In the video clip below, author James Patterson (the Alex Cross series of novels) talks a little bit about the upcoming film adaptation (I Alex Cross) of his work, starring Tyler Perry.
In the clip, Patterson says he's seen all of the film's footage, and he calls this new Alex cross movie THE best Alex Cross movie ever, trumping previous works by Morgan Freeman, adding that he feels Tyler is closer to the character as written in the book in terms of age and physical ability (so he's just not just a gumshoe, there's lots of action in this one).
He also call Tyler Perry a "method actor" (who knew?), and that he immersed himself into the role, recalling a funeral scene in which Tyler's performance actually made the other people on set weep because of how good and genuine the scene apparently plays out.
Further, he gives away a minor spoiler saying that something devastating happens to the Cross family that really influences Tyler's dramatic performance which will shock and surprise everyone!
The film, which features a supporting cast of rather solid actors in Cicely Tyson, Giancarlo Esposito, Matthew Fox, Ed Burns, and others, doesn't open until late 2012, so we still have a long way to go; however, I suspect we'll be treated to a trailer or teaser in the next few months. In fact, I won't be surprised to see a teaser attached to release prints of Perry's next film, Good Deeds, which opens in late February.
In the meantime, watch Patterson preach below:
