Jennifer Hudson has officially joined the elite EGOT club!
During Sunday night’s Tony Awards, the accomplished singer/actress achieved EGOT status when she took home her Tony win for producing A Strange Loop.
Hudson now joins 16 other individuals in history who have earned an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony over the course of their careers in entertainment.
Some of these notable figures include Rita Moreno, Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Legend and Whoopi Goldberg.
Jennifer Hudson's journey to an EGOT began in 2006.
The first award Jennifer Hudson won in a competitive category was an Oscar in 2006 for best-supporting actress thanks to her performance in that year’s hit film Dreamgirls.
Since then, the actress has nabbed two Grammys — one for best R&B album for her self-titled album in 2009 and another for best musical theater album for The Color Purple in 2017— as well as a Daytime Emmy for executing producing the VR-animated film Baba Yaga.
