Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, Jacqueline Moscou, Artistic Director, (LH PAI), in Seattle, Washington, USA presents its 10th annual Langston Hughes African American Film Festival (LHAAFF) Call for Work inviting independent film entries for our April 13 – 21, 2013 film festival.

Genres/subject areas: narrative, documentary, children’s, youth-made movies, shorts, LGBT, experimental, animation.

Filmmakers do not have to be Black, but films should include significant, relevant content involving Black people: we are seeking diverse, multifaceted stories and positive images.

No fundraising or training films will be considered.

Films originating in languages other than English must have English subtitles.

Films are reviewed by a jury process.

Deadline: Friday, February 8, 2013.

ALL preview copies must be clearly marked with your name and contact information.

Please notify us if you have simultaneously submitted your film to other Seattle-area festivals. You will be notified by email if your film is accepted to the festival.

Honorarium: A $50 honorarium is paid per film accepted and screened. Programming of your film and payment are contingent upon completion & return of a Screening Agreement form and all required documentation by due dates.

Participating filmmakers and their associates hold the Langston Hughes African American Film Festival, the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center and its staff, contractors, and volunteers harmless and free of any liability for any & all loss, damage, or other claims of any kind arising from their voluntary decision to submit this film and entry fee for entry in this film arts program.
