As we reported here back in April, Lenny Kravitz was being sought for a role in the upcoming adaptation of The Hunger Games series of books. Although, at the time, there was no information on what roles he was being offered.

Now there is!

Lionsgate (via The Playlist) announced yesterday that the musician-turned-actor will play the role of Cinna. Just don’t ask me who exactly that is, because, as I’ve said before, I haven’t read the books, so I’m not at all familiar. But according to the Hunger Games, Cinna was Katniss Everdeen’s stylist during her campaigns through the 74th and 75th Hunger Games.

So there ya have it… Kravitz is Katniss’ stylist. Not sure how much of a part the character plays in the overall scheme of things, but maybe those who have read the book can chime in.

As we already know, Oscar-nominee Jennifer Lawrence is playing Katniss, and Josh Hutcherson will be Peeta. There was some backlash over Lawrence’s casting, as the character in the novel is described as having “dark hair” and “olive skin;” but Racebending has all the details on that matter if you want to catch up (HERE).

Last we reported on this, the characters named Thresh and Rue, also known as Tributes, were cast, and both are played by relative newcomers, Dayo Okeniyi, and Amandla Stenberg.

Thresh and Rue are definitely African American in the book, as I’ve read, so the casting here hasn’t caused any ruffles.

Filming is set to begin around towards the end of May, in North Carolina, under Gary Ross’ (Pleasantville, Seabiscuit) direction. Apparently, there are still many roles left to cast. But how many?
