As already noted, the marketing machine has officially begun for Quentin Tarantino's hgihly-anticipated slavery revenge tale Django Unchained – a film that I've already predicted will be another one of those heavily polarizing films when it's eventually released on X-mas day this year and after.
The official teaser poster was unveiled earlier last week, and was soon followed with the film's official synopsis.
And in the above photo (courtesy of Hitflix), the film's 3 stars (Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, Jamie Fox), as well as Tarantino himself, attended a promotional event for the film held in Cancun, Mexico over the weekend. See the below photo as well, which includes Christoph Waltz.
Check out the hairy faces of Foxx, DiCaprio and Waltz; I'm guessing those are looks their characters will have in the film. Certainly for Waltz, since an on-set photo of him in character floated around the web last week, showing him with all that scruff.

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, DJANGO UNCHAINED stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.
Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South's most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.
Django and Schultz's search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of "Candyland," an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie's trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them.
If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival…
Written and directed by Academy Award®-winner Quentin Tarantino, DJANGO UNCHAINED is produced by Stacey Sher, Reginald Hudlin and Pilar Savone. The executive producers are Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Michael Shamberg, Shannon McIntosh, and James Skotchdopole. DJANGO UNCHAINED will be released in the U.S. on December 25, 2012, and internationally by Sony Pictures.
Alright, so if you've read my review of the script (posted on S&A nothing almost a year ago today – May 9th), nothing written in the synopsis above will be terribly new to you, because it's pretty much how it all goes down. Of course specifics could have changed since then, and we just won't know what exactly until we see the completed film.

But regardless of what I felt about that draft of the script I read and reviewed, I'm still most certainly curious to see what the end product looks like when it's released; I'm sure I'll get to see some early press screenings of it, and, naturally, my review will follow eventually.
