ABC is reviving "The $100,000 Pyramid" game show for a 10-episode primetime run this summer, with Michael Strahan hosting (the late Dick Clark was the host of the original series’ run).

As nreported by our friends at Vulture, who broke the news, this will mark the first time the game show will air as a weekly primetime series; previously, it was primarily a daytime program.

"The $10,000 Pyramid" debuted in 1973, and spawned seven subsequent "Pyramid" series. The game featured two contestants, each paired with a celebrity. Players attempt to guess a series of words or phrases based on descriptions given to them by their teammates.

Dick Clark is the host most commonly associated with the show, having hosted every incarnation from 1973–88. The most recent edition of the series, GSN’s "The Pyramid," was hosted by Mike Richards and aired for a single forty-episode season before it was cancelled in 2012.

Strahan joins the ranks of other relatively new black male game show hosts – Cedric the Entertainer ("Who Wants to Be a Millionaire"), succeeded by Terry Crews for the 2014–2015 season of "Millionaire;" Wayne Brady ("Let’s Make a Deal"); Steve Harvey ("Family Feud"); Alfonso Ribeiro ("Catch 21," "Spell-Mageddon"); Anthony Anderson ("To Tell The Truth"); Common ("Framework"); Donald Faison ("WINSANITY"); and maybe others I’m not aware of.
