From the New York Film Academy’s blog:

New York Film Academy extends a big congratulations to 25-year-old Miss Angola Leila Lopes, named Miss Universe 2011 at the 60th annual pageant in Brazil. Lopes became the first winner from her country to receive the honor when she was crowned at the Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo on Monday night. Lopes beat competition from 88 other contestants during the event, which was broadcast on NBC and Telemundo around the world. Lopes was granted a package of prizes including a one-year film and acting scholarship and housing from the New York Film Academy by the panel of judges, who included Indianapolis 500 racer Helios Castroneves, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Adrienne Maloof and actress Vivica Fox and broadcaster Connie Chung. We look forward to welcoming Miss Universe 2011 to New York Film Academy.

Well… she’s said to be a business management student in the UK, but maybe she’ll go to NYFA here in NYC, thrive there and decide to make a switch and pursue filmmaking and/or acting full-time at NYU; and maybe we’ll be talking about her work here on Shadow And Act in the future… then again, maybe not 🙂
