Nick Cannon’s daytime talk show is reportedly done.
Page Six reported the news on Wednesday, writing that “sources say that staff at the nationally syndicated show have yet to be informed. But we’re told many of them were already looking for new jobs because the outlook seemed bleak for the struggling show.”
Cannon was enlisted for his own talker from Debmar-Mercury after he filled in for Wendy Williams. It was rumored one time that he may even take over 'The Wendy Williams Show.'
He also hosts Fox’s The Masked Singer, one of the biggest reality shows on broadcast television, which was another booster.
However, ratings for Cannon’s own show put him out of contention for Williams’s.
The report states, “audience numbers showed Cannon’s show picking up just 400,000 viewers, making it the lowest rated talk show at the time. Williams’s show averages 600,000. And sources tell us that ratings for the show ‘show no signs of growth.”
The Sun, which initially broke the news, said a source told them “You can’t survive with those ratings. That’s Bethenny Frankle and Kris Jenner talk show rating territory- it didn’t end well for their shows either.”
Page Six also says that this axing of Cannon's show comes as networks will want a spot to place Jennifer Hudson's upcoming talk show.
“Jennifer’s new deal with Fox had yet to be an announced time slot. Not many people have been told yet, but her show is expected to get Nick’s time slot,” said The Sun.
“It is anticipated that Nick will finish out the rest of his season,” the report continued.
Before this news came, Cannon’s talk show received a second-run premiere at VH1.
