OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network closed out 2013 on top achieving its second consecutive year of double digit growth across key demos.

The network says, via press release, that it delivered a +16% increase in W25-54 (Women 25-54), +21% in total viewers and +76% in African American W25-54 in primetime, versus 2012.

Additionally, OWN ranked as the #5 primetime cable network in 2013 among all African American women. I wonder what the 4 networks are that come before it, that rank highly among all African American women. I’d guess that BET is one of them. Maybe ABC, if only because of Scandal. What else?

OWN also ranked in the top three cable networks on Tuesday nights (#2), Wednesday nights (#2) and Saturday nights (#3), among African American W25-54.

OWN’s popular Saturday night lineup boasts the night’s top six original series for African American W25-54 including Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s, Iyanla: Fix My Life, Houston Beauty, Six Little McGhees, Raising Whitley and Life with La Toya.

Tuesday and Wednesday nights ratings gains were driven by the network’s popular scripted series from Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots, Love Thy Neighbor and For Better or Worse

The Haves and the Have Nots is Tuesday night’s #4 original cable series for W25-54, and the #2 original series on all of television for African American W25-54.

Love Thy Neighbor is Wednesday night’s #2 original cable series and #3 series on all of television for African American W25-54, and For Better or Worse is Wednesday night’s #4 original cable series and #5 on all of television for African-American W25-54.

This past season of Iyanla: Fix My Life was up double digits in W25-54 and total viewers vs. the prior season. For 2013, the series ranked as the #2 Saturday night original series in all of television for African American W25-54.

The year’s top five Oprah’s Next Chapter episodes included:

· Lance Armstrong Part 1 – 3.2 million total viewers

· Lance Armstrong Part 2 – 1.8 million total viewers

· Beyonce – 1.3 million viewers

· Tina Turner – 1.03 million viewers

· Black Women in Hollywood featuring Alfre Woodard, Viola Davis, Phylicia Rashad and Gabrielle Union – 1.0 million total viewers

What kind of gains can we expect in 2014 for the OWN network? Stay tuned…
