Check out the trailer for an indie feature titled Oakville, which, according to the press kit, portrays a dramatic cross section of hopes and dreams buoyed by the potentials of a new Administration. As the lives of two couples intersect on election night, 2008, a struggle with conventional perceptions and morals ensues, threatening not only a vision of their new world but ultimately of themselves.
The Oakland, CA-shot film was directed, co-written, and edited by Nigerian filmmaker Lisbon O. Okafor; Cheryl LaTouche was the other writer, and producer.
The ensemble cast stars Kay Ewing Donato, Jeff Handy, Benedict Ives, Shannon Shepherd, Zainab Johnson, and others.
No ETA on when it a commercial release can be expected, although I received an email alerting me to a scheduled preview screening of the film taking place in Oakland on November 1, so it's on the horizon.
Watch the trailer in the meantime.
