Showtime announced today that season 2 of its Don Cheadle dark comedy series House Of Lies will return to the network on January 13, at 10pm, after debuts of Shameless‘ (its 3rd season) at 9 PM, and before the Season 6 premiere of Californication at 10:30.

Based on the book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time by Martin Kihn, Showtime's House Of Lies stars Cheadle as Marty, a highly successful, cutthroat consultant who will use any means (or anyone) necessary to get his clients the information that they want.

Showtime renewed the series for a second season before season 1 was over, after reported strong early ratings numbers.

The series, which Showtime head David Nevins said is "clearly resonating with audiences as evidenced by… steady growth," co-stars Heroes alum, Dawn Olivieri, as Monica, Marty's "crazy, pill-popping ex-wife and biggest professional competition, as her consulting firm is No.1, compared to Marty's No. 2."

Glynn Turman also co-stars, playing Cheadle's father.

Maybe the success of House Of Lies will translate to the big screen, and Cheadle's Miles Davis project will finally get the backing it needs to go into production.
