Writer/director Barry Jenkins has signed with film, TV, commercial, music video and theatre production company Smuggler for global commercial representation.
Founded in 2002, Smuggler is a multiple award-winning company that has been awarded “Production Company of the Year” by several leading commercial industry magazines and award shows over the past few years, including in 2010 by Creativity magazine, and has been awarded the Palme d’Or three times (including most recently in 2015) at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.
In addition to commercials, Smuggler also works in the music video, long-form, film and TV spaces, although they signed Jenkin for global commercial representation, where I’m sure he’ll be kept busy, especially between film projects.
His upcoming projects include an adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s “The Underground Railroad” for television, and scripting a Clarissa “T-Rex” Shields biopic (the first American female Olympic boxing champion).
Adage was first to report Jenkins’ signing with Smuggler.
