Tamara Smart has landed the lead role in the Netflix family film, A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting, Shadow And Act has learned. Indya Moore has also joined the film in a main role.

The movie is based on the first installment of Joe Ballarini’s book series of the same name. Ballarini will also write the script. The film is directed by Rachel Talalay. Moore joins a cast that includes Tamara Smart, Oona Laurence, Alessio Scalzotto, Ian Ho and Tom Felton.

Here’s the logline: When first-time babysitter Kelly Ferguson’s charge is kidnapped by the Boogeyman, she discovers a secret society of fierce babysitters who protect children – and an entire world of monsters she will have to fight in order to save him.

Production is underway in Vancouver. This is another film for Netflix’s family movie slate as they continue to make a big push in this arena. Other upcoming titles and titles in development include Nzingha Stewart’s Tall Girl and Work It produced by Alicia Keys.
