Brooklyn’s own Caribbean Film Academy (CaFA), who later this month also goes into their third year of The Caribbean Film Series at BAMcinématek, which introduces feature and short films of the Caribbean diaspora to New York tri-state audiences, is continuing with their mission to bring remarkable stories from and of the Caribbean to life with the actual production of four short and noteworthy films. But once again they need your contributions to truly make that happen.

In CaFA’s ‘Caribbean Film Project,’ four emerging Caribbean writer/directors were chosen to have their scripts developed and their stories produced as short films. As their Indiegogo page states, “Over the past two years, the writers have worked with their writing coaches to make their scripts production ready. Now, we are ready to shoot the films, and are reaching out to you, our community, our village, to help raise some of the funds needed to make the films.”

Distinctly, the four writer/directors are also from Caribbean countries where viewers are unused to seeing films emerge: Guyana, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Dominica, with one diaspora writer from Canada, who also represents Guyana.

— Kojo McPherson – “ADERO”
Guyana
A brooding 30-odd year old corporate drone, is on a quest to find his true identity. But his journey – through dreams and physical world – threaten him in ways he could never have imagined. (Shot on location in Guyana)

— Karen Chapman – “LINGER“ (working title)
Diaspora – Canada/Guyana
A young mixed-race couple in Guyana find away to overcome their challenges and find lasting love.

Dominica
A young boy comes of age when he conquers his fear of the carnival costumes of his village and learns two family secrets.

Your contributions will help the writer/directors to meet their critical milestones, covering costs for them and their primarily volunteer crews to attain transportation, food for the cast and crew during principal photography, equipment, props, and more.
