Many Black celebrities have taken to social media to mourn the loss of Good Times actress Ja’Net DuBois, who died Tuesday at the age of 74.

Janet Jackson, who played Penny, the adopted daughter of DuBois’ character Wilona Woods, posted a picture of her and Woods on Instagram. With the picture, she wrote, “I am so very saddened to hear my longtime friend Ja’Net DuBois has passed away. I saw first hand how she broke stereotypes and changed the landscape for Black women in entertainment. I’m grateful in recent years I had a chance to see her and create more lasting memories. I pray for comfort for all her family and friends. Thank you Ja’Net. I’ll miss you.”

Leslie Jones, Viola Davis and Tamron Hall were also among the celebrities who extended their condolences. Davis, who recently interacted with DuBois during the Good Times reenactment of Live In Front of a Studio Audience, posted a cast picture with DuBois with the caption reading in part, “What a pleasure it was to meet you. You shaped so much of the best memories of my childhood! God bless you, Ja’net DuBois! RIP.”

Jones quoted Florida Evans’ line of “Damn, damn, damn!” when reacting to DuBois’ death, reposting a classic scene from the Good Times episode featuring Wilona arguing with Penny’s abusive biological mother.

Hall reposted a tweet featuring Wilona’s iconic entrances, calling DuBois the “original fly Auntie.”

Holly Robinson Peete also tweeted out the video of Wilona’s entrances, writing, “Nobody on TV made an entrance like Ms. Ja’Net DuBois’ Wilona Woods! Rest in peace, beautiful Queen.”

Peete also tweeted about her feelings about DuBois, writing, “We all cherished her as the beloved Wilona on #GoodTimes. Got to work with her on Hangin With Mr. Cooper. I followed her around like a puppy dog. She shared so much wisdom. I loved and will miss her dearly.”
