Here's another blast from the recent past (see my post on Vipaka just below this one); a project we first and last wrote about in April 2011, is now set to make its next screen at the Slamdance Film Festival, in the Special Screenings section of the festival.

Taye Diggs stars alongside Julia StilesMelissa George and David Harbour, in a filmed adaptation of a 2004 Off-Broadway play titled Between Us, written by Joe Hortua.

Playbill describes the play, which I haven't seen, as follows:

"The story centers on two men who have been friends since graduate school and who begin to drift apart as they find wives, have children and grow up."

The Hollywood Reporter called it a:

"… dark ensemble comedy exploring the bittersweet friendship between two couples who meet as old friends and discover their lives are tarnished by money, sex, success and children."

The film, as did the play, takes place over the course of 2 nights; it looks like it could be your typical squabbling couples in a closed space, as secrets are revealed, feelings are hurt, and so on, and so forth.

If you saw the off-Broadway play, chime in with your reactions to it, please.

Dan Mirvish, whose past credits include mostly writing gigs on shorts and feature scripts, adapted the play as well as directed the film.

Here's your first full look at the couples:
