The first, highly-anticipated trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Tenet has been released. The film is led by John David Washington and also stars Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh and Himesh Patel.

Not much is known about the plot of the film, and we still can’t tell much from the trailer. What is clear is that it seems to be an espionage thriller on an international scale with lots of action and…time travel? It sure looks that way. With a pricey budget of $225 million, it is the most expensive Nolan production yet and is his latest film since 2017’s Dunkirk.

Earlier this week, he told Entertainment Weekly, “We’re jumping off from the point of view of an espionage film, but we’re going to a number of different places. We’re crossing a few different genres in a hopefully exciting and fresh way. We shot in seven countries, all over the place, with a massive cast and huge set pieces. There’s no question, it’s the most ambitious film we’ve made.”

The film will be in theaters on July 17, 2020. Watch the trailer below:
