He’s only recently completed work on the George Lucas-produced Tuskegee Airmen actioner, Red Tails, and now it’s been announced that jazzman, and Spike Lee’s favorite composer, Terence Blanchard, will compose the original musical for the upcoming Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ landmark, Pulitzer Prize-winning play, A Streetcar Named Desire, which, as was recently announced, Blair Underwood will star in, making his Broadway debut playing Stanley Kowalski.

Directed by Emily Mann, A Streetcar Named Desire is scheduled to debut in spring 2012.

No word yet on who will fill out the rest of the starring cast, alongside Underwood.
