nullTessa Thompson will co-star alongside British actor Tom Weston-Jones, and German actress Franka Potente in BBC America's first original scripted series, a drama titled Copper.

The new show, set in 19th century New York, will center on a young Irish police officer (played by Weston-Jones) who's assigned to work within immigrant communities, and of course much drama will ensue.

Tessa Thompson, who has done some TV work since her appearance in For Colored Girls, and has some 4 feature films at various stages of development, will play a character named Sara, described as a doctor's wife, whose brothers were lynched by a group of Irsih folks during a riot, and will do what she has to do to protect what's left of her family.

Potente will play a woman who runs a brothel and has a relationship with the Irish cop.

No word on when the series will debut on BBC America, so stay tuned.
