The View has made its permanent co-host announcement and one promotion makes sense…but the other has been contentious since the moment it was leaked.
According to Variety, The View will name Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin as co-hosts. Navarro has been a regular guest host on The View. Meanwhile, Farah Griffin has been controversial with viewers but supposedly liked by The View staff and ABC brass. The announcement will be made on today’s episode. Navarro, who lives in Miami, will commute to New York for work.
ABC has announced Navarro and Griffin's promotions, with the two women given statements about their positions on the series.
“I couldn’t be more honored and thrilled to join the ladies of The View,” Farah Griffin said to ABC News. “The show paved the way for women speaking up and speaking out on TV.”
“At a time when our country is so divided, often on partisan lines, I’m honored to represent the conservative perspective,” she added. “I hope to model what is too often lost by our elected leaders: learning from others, disagreeing respectfully, and focusing on finding real solutions for our country.”
"The View is an institution and incomparable platform for women of different backgrounds to share their opinions and insights," Navarro told ABC News.
“It’s been a long courtship, but we’re finally making it official. I love being on the show, and I love living in Miami. I’m happy I will be able to do both. Thank you to ABC News, The View family and our loyal viewers for their continued support.”
As viewers know, both women come from the Republican Party, but viewers have vastly different ideas about how they feel about the pundits.
For instance, Navarro has been extremely outspoken about Donald Trump before and during his presidency because of his incendiary comments about Latinos. Navarro had also been talks to become a permanent co-host, but, as Variety reports, a deal only worked out now, alongside Griffin’s deal.
Farah Griffin, on the other hand, has worked within the Trump administration and has been seen by viewers as frustrating, particularly because she only publicly divorced herself from his image after the Jan. 6 riot.
It’s already been reported that comedian Wanda Sykes allegedly declined to come on the show as a guest because of Farah Griffin; she reportedly didn’t want to give a former Trumper an indirect sign-off on a new career by appearing on the show.
