Just a day after lead actor Andre Braugher received an Emmy nomination for his work on the series, TNT has announced that it will not renew Men of a Certain Age for a third season.

The critically acclaimed series, which stars Braugher alongside Ray Romano and Scott Bakula as three middle-aged buddies, is a casualty of low ratings. At the end of its second season last month it bowed to a disappointing 1.8 million viewers, 591,000 of them in the 19-49 demographic. That was down 33% from the Season 2 premiere in December.

In a statement released by TNT, the cable network expressed the usual regrets about having to cancel, its pride at having had two seasons of “great storytelling and impeccable performances,” and best wishes to the cast, crew and creators of the show.

The cancellation allows room for a reboot of the 1980s series Dallas, as well as new episodes of Falling Skies and Franklin & Bash. More scheduling changes are reportedly on the way.
