Join ImageNation Cinema Foundation and the Film Society of Lincoln Center for a special advance screening of GUN HILL ROAD.

Selected by the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and slated to open theatrically this summer, GUN HILL ROAD is a provocative drama about a family in the cross roads. After three years in prison, macho Enrique (Esai Morales) returns to the Bronx and finds the world he knew has changed. His wife, Angela (Judy Reyes), is distant, and his teenage son, Michael (newcomer Harmony Santana), explores a transformation that is beyond Enrique’s grasp.

Can a father’s fierce love for his family overcome his street-hardened ideas about manhood and end the vicious cycle controlling his life? Writer/director Rashaad Ernesto Green’s first feature film is an intricate portrait of a family divided told with sensitivity, gentle humor, deep understanding.

This screening will be followed by a panel with the director and cast, and a reception sponsored by Whole Foods.

The film was, by the way, co-produced by Ron Simmons’ SimonSays Entertainment production company – producers of Tanya Hamilton’s Night Catches Us. I saw it late last year, before its Sundance birth this year, and I loved it. A quietly intense, very-well acted, moving portrayal of a family is strife, working towards reconciliation.
