Well, here it is… the first trailer for DreamWorks’ adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s novel, The Help, which stars Viola Davis, Emma Stone, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sissy Spacek, Octavia Spencer and several others.

Davis, as we already know, will play the lead, Aibileen, in the film adaptation of the book, which explores the complicated relationships between the white women of the South in the 1960s, and the black maids and housekeepers who took care of their children and homes.

Tate Taylor, who has more acting credits than directing, helmed the project; and it’s worth noting that Nate Berkus, the interior designer, who most will be familiar with as a once-regular on The Oprah Winfrey Show, is listed as a producer, along with Chris Columbus and others.

The film, which I’ve already said likely represents the best possibility for an Oscar nomination by a black actor/actress this year (in Viola Davis and/or Octavia Spencer), will be in theaters this August.
