I hope you haven't had enough Tyler Perry this year, and certainly next year. 🙂
Lionsgate is slated to release Tyler Perry's new comedy Madea's Witness Protection for this June 29th, 2012.
According to Variety, Tina Gordon Chism's long-in-gestation We The Peeples (produced by Perry, Paul Hall and Stephanie Allain Bray) and starring Craig Robinson, David Alan Grier, Kerry Washington, S. Epatha Merkerson, Melvin Van Peebles, Diahann Carroll, and Kali Hawk, has been pushed back from March 29, 2013 to May 10, 2013.
Perry's other upcoming comedy The Marriage Counselor, which stars Jurnee Smollett, Lance Gross, Vanessa Williams and Kim Kardashian, has also been moved to next year for a March 29th, 2013 release.
To recap, the synopsis for Madea's Witness Protection, which boasts a huge cast including Eugene Levy, Denise Richards, Tom Arnold, Doris Roberts, Danielle Campbell, Devan Leos, Romeo Miller and Marla Gibbs is the following:
Comic legend Eugene Levy (the AMERICAN PIE franchise, BEST IN SHOW) stars in the film as George, a high level CFO at the center of a Ponzi scheme in New York City who is enrolled in the Witness Protection program along with his family in the one place that absolutely no one will think to look for them: Madea's house down South.
If we're correct, this is Perry's 14th feature in seven years. Tyler Perry's last theater release was Good Deeds, which opened back in February to dismal reviews and which performed underwhelmingly at the box office.
