If you’re a longtime reader of this blog, you’ll know that the talented young actor Daniel J. Gordon is one of our faves from the Canadian-based director Charles Officer’s NURSE.FIGHTER.BOY. What you may not know is that the young man is also appearing in TNT’s new drama FALLING SKIES.

And If you love sci-fi you’ll definitely be into Falling Skies. Starring ER‘s Noah Wyle, it’s about the aftermath of an alien invasion six months prior to and “the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force.” The core of the show is really about holding on to your humanity despite losing your loved ones and being thrown into an impossible war.

Taking place in and outside of the (now) former city of Boston, Massachusetts, there are a few Black folks scattered into the cast. While the only regular cast member is Mpho Koaho who plays solider/rebel named Anthony, who began his career in Down In the Delta and continued to co-star in Get Rich or Die Tryin, the Salton Sea, Four Brothers and two of the SAW movies, the past episode and the next four also the highly talented Daniel J. Gordon (sometimes credited as Daniyah Ysrayl), who plays the recently rescued son of one of the freedom fighter generals, Canadian actor Martin Roach (as the show’s filmed in Canada, they naturally rely on a lot of great local talent – like Gordon and the roughish Colin Cunningham who plays Pope), who has just been somewhat freed from a bio-mechanical harness that allowed the aliens to control him like a mindless slave.

Check out the clip below for Gordon. No speaking parts yet, that may come in tonight’s episode and future ones.

and here’s the trailer for Nurse.Fighter.Boy (if you’ve somehow never seen it…)
