In honor of the 20th anniversary of Daughters of the Dust, Julie Dash's 1992 Sundance festival drama, The New School and Creatively Speaking presented a special screening and discussion of the film on March 9 as part of its Remixed and Remastered series.
Panelists included Kathryn Bowser and Mark Walton, founders of KJM3 Entertainment Group, the company responsible for the distribution and marketing of the film with Kino International; Gary Palmucci, Kino Lorber; Grace Black, veteran studio and independent film producer and production manager; Thulani Davis, cultural critic and author of numerous publications on the independent black film movement; Leslie Harris, filmmaker, as well as Julie Dash in person.
