I was under the impression that there already was a Wendy Williams Productions, but I guess this formailizes it?

Remember last summer when it was announced that production companies belonging to Wendy Williams and Suzanne de Passe (Wendy Williams Productions and de Passe Jones Entertainment) had teamed up to develop projects for TV and film – with original movies being the primary focus, based on a statement from said de Passe Jones co-chairman Madison Jones, at the time.

It's been announced this afternoon that Wendy Williams and her manager and husband, Kevin Hunter, have formed the programming company called Wendy Williams Productions (WWP), which will focus on NON-FICTION programming, unlike last summer's announcement that the then Wendy Williams Productions would focus on original movies.

It's not clear from the press release if this is a wholly-new company, or just a revamping of the existing one. 

Veteran producer Lisa Knapp has been named senior VP of development, as the new company will be housed at Debmar-Mercury, which also will be a partner in WWP.

Debmar-Mercury is a TV company that is owned by Lions Gate Entertainment.

The release says that WWP will focus on the development and production of reality TV, game and talk shows for the cable and broadcast markets, with Wendy Williams serving as executive producer of the projects, and, in some case, may also have an on-camera role.

"This is a dream come true. Kevin and I have been kicking around so many ideas and are excited to be able to now bring them to life with our own production shingle. As anyone who watches my show knows, I am a huge fan of all reality and game shows, and know a thing or two about talk. Lisa has spent a career creating and producing the kind of television shows I love, and we are thrilled to have her guide our development efforts. We don't plan on wasting much time, so stay tuned for some must-see programming ahead," said Williams in a statement.

Some of Lisa Knapp's credits which Wendy says she a huge fan of, include Gene Simmons Family Jewels for A&E, The Bachelorette for ABC, and many others. So that gives you an idea of what to expect from the newly-formed Wendy Williams Productions.

Since she says they don't plan on wasting much time, expect some programming announcements soon.
