In my review of the film’s script, I suggested that the completed work might make its worldwide debut at the Venice Film Festival later this year – August 31st to September 10th, to be exact.

In a Variety exclusive, posted late last night on their site, it’s been confirmed that Steve McQueen’s second feature-length film, Shame, will indeed premiere at the 68th Venice Film Festival, in what is shaping up to be a rather strong affair, considering the other titles that are either already slotted, or expected to be.

Some of those films include Roman Polanski’s Carnage, David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method , Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion and Haywire, an adaptation of John Le Carre’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy starring Gary Oldman and Colin Firth, Luc Besson’s Aung San Suu Kyi film The Lady, starring Michelle Yeoh, Russian auteur Aleksandr Sokurov’s highly anticipated Faust, and many more.

Damn… can I go? No really… can I? 🙂

We’ll see… Shadow And Act might have a presence at the festival this year.

Anyway… with the festival a mere 3 to 4 months away, I expect we’ll start to see some media for each of these titles – specifically Shame, which stars Michael Fassbender, Nicole Beharie and Carey Mulligan.

I reviewed the script a week or so ago; if you missed that post, click HERE to read my thoughts.
