Zoe Kravitz and Sophie Okonedo are reportedly both in talks to join Will Smith and Jaden Smith in 1000 A.E., the scifi action/adventure movie that M. Night Shyamalan is attached to direct.

A brief recap… the post-apocalyptic a father and son (Will and Jaden of course) who crashland on an earth that has become uninhabitable, and the son, considered a failure as a warrior, is put in a position in which he has to save his father, who has already proven his worth as a hero.

If deals don't fall through, Zoe Kravitz will play Will’s daughter/Jaden's sister, and Sophie Okonedo will play Will's wife/Jaden's mother.

And you all thought that they'd just cast Willow and Jada. Psssht! 🙂

Stephen Gaghan (Traffic, Syriana) was recently brought on to polish up Shaymalan's script (a good idea IMHO), and Colombia Pictures is said to be planning an early 2012 production start date, with a June 2013 release.

I'm guessing both the sister and mother roles will be peripheral to the core story between father and son, in what will likely be more of a coming-of-age tale (or coming-into-his-own) tale with Jaden as the real star of the film.

So this should be Will's next, after Men In Black 3 is released next summer.

I'm sure the script for 1000 A.E. is floating around out there somewhere… so if anyone comes across it, holla 🙂
