The film isn’t even in theaters yet (won’t be until the end of August), but, apparently, producer Luc Besson and director Olivier Megaton, and star Zoe Saldana are already talking a sequel to their upcoming revenge thriller, Colombiana.

Empire caught up with Saldana are the Cannes Film Festival, which ended its 2011 run yesterday, and asked her about sequels to Avatar, Star Trek and Colombiana, and, about the latter, the actress said that Besson and Megaton are already salivating at the thought, and asked her, during a recent dinner at Cannes, whether she would do a sequel if they are able to – likely meaning, if the film does well at the box office.

Of course, she said she would. Now, obviously, it doesn’t mean it’ll actually happen, even if the film is a box office success. But, it’s clear that they are already considering the idea.

Will the film do well? Who knows? As we discussed on the last podcast, the film doesn’t necessarily have to do blockbuster numbers here in the USA; as with past Besson films, international box office weighs heavily. Take, for example, The 5th Element which made about $63 million stateside, but over $200 million internationally.
