Karone Robinson is suing the Darien Police Department for discrimination. Robinson alleges that he was fired after notifying his bosses that he was dating a fellow police officer who happened to be white.

Robinson told local Atlanta news outlet WSB-TV that he was happy working for the police station. He was quickly rising the ranks in the drug department, and he believed he was moving toward a promotion.

He says he ignored visible signs that the other officers at the police department were racists — like the big Nazi flag hanging in the office — because he was getting promoted and living his dream.

Everything changed when he and his white girlfriend went public with their relationship.

Robinson gave little detail in an interview with WSB-TV's Dave Huddleston and said the racism was not overt, other than the Nazi flag.

“I totally blocked the flag out. It had been there for so long,” he said.

“It was one day I’m the best thing since sliced bread, and the next day I can’t walk and chew bubble gum. I can’t do anything right. That was the lowest point I have ever been in my entire life."
