Ava DuVernay and Oprah Winfrey team up again to bring a new drama series to life. Based on the novel by Natalie Baszile, Queen Sugar is set in Louisiana and follows the lives of two black sisters.
This show is DuVernay’s first major project since Selma. Winfrey and DuVernay announced plans to create the original series last year. Queen Sugar features NAACP Image Award nominee Rutina Wesley, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Kofi Siriboe. The show is set to premier on ‘Oprah Winfrey Network’ this fall.
Check out the teaser.
So far, it’s already a fan favorite.
