Rod Wave, real name Rodarius Green, is in the hot seat and facing a domestic battery charge.

The rapper was arrested early Monday morning in his hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida, and charged with battery by strangulation. He is currently being held without bond.

The 23-year-old artist was detained during a routine traffic stop. Once authorities collected Rod Wave‘s information, they discovered he had a warrant dating back to a December 2021 incident in Osceola County.

As a result, he was booked into Pinellas County Jail. He’s currently awaiting trial, and jail records indicate that he’s already rolling in commissary dough (over $2,000, per the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office).

There’s no further information on the matter at this time, including details on the alleged victim’s general identity.

Since the news broke, people began sharing their thoughts and cutting up on social media. Check out what a handful of Twitter users had to say about Rod Wave’s situation down below.

Rod Wave hit the scene back in 2018 with projects like “Feel the Same Way” and Hunger Games 3. However, it was the next year when hits like “Heart On Ice” and “Cuban Links” truly catapulted his career.

He was notably even included in XXL’s 2020 Freshman Class alongside superstars like Jack Harlow, Polo G, Fivio Foreign, and Latto. He specifically performed his cypher alongside CHIKA, Lil Tjay, and NLE Choppa.

He’s been working on expanding his music catalogue since then, with his latest projects — “Cold December” and “By Your Side” — dropping earlier this year. Rod Wave also dropped a full-length album dubbed SoulFly back in March 2021.

On top of his musical exploits, Rod Wave has been busy giving back to his community. Just last month, the artist was in his Central Florida hometown to host a $25,000 gas giveaway in order to help with rising fuel prices.
