nullJason Mitchell will be joining his “Straight Outta Compton” co-star, Corey Hawkins (who was previously cast), in the “King Kong” prequel, titled “Kong: Skull Island,” the action tentpole movie which is set up at Legendary Pictures.

No word on what characters both Mitchell and Hawkins have signed up to play, but they join a cast that already includes Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson, with Jordan Vogt-Roberts directing.

Also no details on plot either, but what we do know is that the action/adventure movie will tell a story centered on King Kong’s origins.

Given how widely the projects they are both seen in will travel (the box office smash "Straight Outta Compton," "The Walking Dead" – Hawkins booked a role for next season – and now a summer tentpole action-adventure movie in "Skull Island"), Hawkins (who played Dr. Dre in "Compton") and Mitchell (Eazy-E in "Compton) should enjoy tremendous exposure, which will (hopefully) lead to even more work.

"Kong: Skull Island" will be produced by Legendary, with Alex Garcia and Eric McLeod executive producing.
