We've all seen footage of news reporters bravely battling an extreme weather, broadcasting live as they are attacked by the elements on air. Reporting under such conditions always wins the journalist praise from viewers. However, one reporter was caught faking the funk when video surfaced on social media that had folks side-eyeing his antics.

Hurricane Florence's fury rushed through the Carolinas, resulting in many evacuations. Reporter Mike Seidel of The Weather Channel was there, flailing about as he filed his story.

Viewers at home noticed something peculiar: as Seidel seemed about to be swept away, two men behind him walked calmly past. The dichotomy between the journalist and the two locals had folks wondering if the reporter was putting on an act for the camera.

The Weather Channel claims its man on the scene wasn't putting on an act, and that everything can all be explained by the surfaces the three men were on. The two men were walking on the street, while Seidel was on wet grass.

“It’s important to note that the two individuals in the background are walking on concrete, and Mike Seidel is trying to maintain his footing on wet grass, after reporting on-air until 1:00 a.m. ET this morning and is undoubtedly exhausted,” the channel said in a statement, according to FOX 29.

Seidel has yet to comment on the controversy himself.
