Not sure if this is the latest trend or airports and airplane have always had these issues but it's getting out of hand at this point. Over the past few weeks, we've seen people dragged off airplanes, flight attendants hitting passengers and passengers brawling on the plane and the terminals. Either there's something in the air (literally) or people are faster to record these situations. Nonetheless, it doesn't make any of this right.
Earlier this month, a New Jersey family was catching a flight to Nevada to celebrate a birthday until their plans were crushed by JetBlue Airways. Cameron Burke shared with the Daily News that he and his family were on their way to celebrate his wife, Minta Burke, 40th birthday, traveling with a beautiful cake from Tonni's Minis bakery as part of their carry-on luggage. They place it in an overhead bin and took their seats like everyone else.
“A flight attendant nicely asked me to remove the cake from that compartment, so I moved it to another one,” Cameron shared. “She then asked me to move it to underneath the seat in front of me, I did.” Cameron went on to say that another flight attendant appeared on the scene and began berating her colleague and then Cameron over the cake. Another employee approached the situation and asked Cameron and his family to leave the flight. Instead, he refused to leave and pull out his cell phone to record the situation.
Two Port Authority police officers were called to the plane to do an investigation where they found that Cameron and his family did nothing wrong. Either way, JetBlue insisted that the Burkes were at fault and asked everyone on the full flight to exit in order for them to get off. The family's tickets and reward points were refunded but as you can see from the footage the family will never forget this embarrassing moment.
Cameron managed to book a flight with United Airlines for his family the next day but he has since reached out to the National Action Network and intends to file a lawsuit against JetBlue. As he should.
