Beyoncé performed Sunday at South Africa's Global Citizen Festival, which celebrated the life of Nelson Mandela and served as a fundraiser for global wellness and anti-poverty initiatives.
As Blavity reported, her performance was the highlight of the show; however, those watching online couldn't help but criticize one element of her set. Ed Sheeran joined Queen Bey onstage to perform their song "Perfect," and as Elle notes, the two performers wore very different things.
Bey wore an elaborate haute couture dress. Sheeran wore jeans and a long-sleeved shirt with a T-shirt over it. Folks were not pleased and made their distaste known on Twitter:
beyonce: what are you wearing tonight?
Ed Sheeran: something casual.Beyonce: oh you really meant casual. pic.twitter.com/X55Skbivrb

Ed Sheeran is a 27 year old man the fact we’ve enabled him to feel it’s ok to dress like this at all, let alone next to Beyoncé really boils my piss pic.twitter.com/Q6XqgTFuvQ

Ed Sheeran is actually wearing a 3-piece custom tuxedo. That’s just what white people always look like standing next to Beyoncé. pic.twitter.com/YO2nyuNOSw

The drama wasn't all online. Another user noted a little side-eye on Queen Bey's part during the pair's performance together when Sheeran missed a note.
The way Beyonce opened her eyes when he messed up that note ???? pic.twitter.com/9X42s4SRJb
