In June 2022, Martin Lawrence joked during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he would try to get Eddie Murphy to pay if their children, Jasmin Lawrence and Eric Murphy, marry.

Murphy has now responded to the comment, and Lawerence must pay instead.

“That’s not how it goes,” Murphy said when recently asked about it by the Canadian entertainment news series Etalk, as People reports.

“My daughter just got married, and I had to pay — really had to pay,” he continued. “You have to do the same, Martin.”

People reported Jasmin and Eric made their love known on social media in June 2021. Blavity noted the couple attended Eric’s sister, Bria’s, wedding to Michael Xavier last summer, where Jasmin caught the bouquet.

While no public engagement plans exist, that hasn’t stopped Martin and Eddie from having fun with the idea of an upcoming ceremony.
